Windows Mobile 6.1 has successfully passed the Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program, achieving Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4), and Windows Mobile 6 has been awarded the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ (EAL2+). The DSD is Australia's national authority for information security.
The Common Criteria is the driving force for the widest available mutual recognition of secure IT products. Windows Mobile 6 and Windows Mobile 6.1 are accepted under the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) by 24 members worldwide.

The Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system has been independently evaluated by a licensed commercial evaluation facility against the international standard ISO/IEC 15408:1999, Common Criteria for Information Technology (IT) Security Evaluation. The Common Criteria permits comparisons between the results of independent security evaluations. It does so by providing a common set of requirements for the security functions of IT products and systems and for assurance measures applied to them during a security evaluation. The evaluation process establishes a level of confidence that the security functions of such products and systems meet these requirements. |
