You can use the goals below to determine your preferred method for providing network access to remote employees.

  • Provide network access to remote employees that use traditional telephone lines and modems

  • Provide low cost, unprotected network access to remote employees that use high speed Internet connections

  • Provide protected network access to remote employees that use high speed Internet connections

  • Provide always-on, protected network access to remote employees that use high speed Internet connections, with the added benefit of your ability to manage the remote computers all the time

  • Provide protected Internet connections between two or more office locations

Provide network access to remote employees that use traditional telephone lines and modems

Provide low cost, unprotected network access to remote employees that use high speed Internet connections

To accomplish this goal, you need to deploy one or more virtual private network (VPN) servers using the Routing and Remote Access service (RRAS) and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). Provide protected network access to remote employees that use high speed Internet connections

To accomplish this goal, you need to deploy one or more virtual private network (VPN) servers using the Routing and Remote Access service (RRAS) and Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol over Internet Protocol security (L2TP/IPsec).
