This guide provides information and step-by-step procedures for upgrading your Windows® HPC Server 2008 cluster to Windows HPC Server 2008 R2. It also provides information about installing service packs for HPC Pack 2008 R2 on a cluster that has already been upgraded to Windows HPC Server 2008 R2.

The upgrade procedures in this document must be used to perform an in-place upgrade of a Windows HPC Server 2008 head node to Windows HPC Server 2008 R2. They are not intended for performing a migration of the head node to a different computer.
