Read the Operations Log

Applies To: Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 R2, Microsoft HPC Pack 2012, Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 R2, Windows HPC Server 2008 R2

The operations log allows you to track recent changes to your cluster and monitor the progress of ongoing operations. In HPC Cluster Manager, you can view the operations log for the entire cluster, filter it to view only specific nodes, or pivot to operations to correlate log entries with specific nodes or diagnostic tests.

To view the operations log

  1. In Node Management, in the Navigation Pane, click Operations. The view pane displays a list of cluster operations.

  2. Use the filter fields to filter operations by Definition, Node, and Last Updated. You can also click the filters in the Navigation Pane, under Operations, to view operations by state.

  3. Click an operation. A detailed log of the selected operation appears in the Details Pane. If the operation is in progress, the log is updated in real time.

Additional considerations

  • You can pivot to the operations log from the node view or from the diagnostic view. This takes you to an operations view that is filtered by the nodes or diagnostics that you selected.

  • Long entries in the operations log are truncated at 259 characters in HPC Cluster Manager. To view the complete entry, you can right-click the entry, click Copy, and then paste the entry into Notepad or another text editor.

  • For information about using HPC Cluster Manager, see Overview of HPC Cluster Manager.
