How to Configure Active Directory Delta Discovery in Configuration Manager 2007 R3
Updated: October 14, 2010
Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3
Active Directory Delta discovery in Configuration Manager 2007 R3 lets you improve the performance of resource discovery by periodically scanning Active Directory for only new or changed resources. Delta discovery does not replace other Configuration Manager 2007 discovery methods. Because it only finds new or modified resources in Active Directory, it must be used together with a discovery method that performs a full synchronization with Active Directory. Use the following procedure to configure delta discovery in Configuration Manager 2007 R3.
|If you configure Configuration Manager 2007 R3 Delta Discovery, do not configure the full discovery polling schedule to be less than the default value of once every 24 hours.|
|The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 R3.|
To configure Delta Discovery
In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name> / Site Settings / Discovery Methods.
Right-click one of the following discovery methods, and then click Properties:
Active Directory System Group Discovery
Active Directory Security Group Discovery
Active Directory System Discovery
Active Directory User Discovery
- Active Directory System Group Discovery
In the Polling Schedule tab for the selected discovery method, enable the option Enable delta discovery.
In the Delta discovery interval (minutes) field, specify the interval in minutes at which delta discovery runs. The default value is every 5 minutes.
Click OK to close the Discovery Method dialog box.
