The Backup wizard helps you protect your data if your hard disk stops working or your files are accidentally erased. With Windows Home Server 2011 Backup, you can create a copy of all the data on your hard disk and store the data on an external storage device. If the original data on your hard disk is accidentally erased, overwritten, or becomes inaccessible because of a hard disk malfunction, you can restore the data from the backup. The Restore Files or Folders wizard helps you restore a single file or folder, multiple files or folders, or an entire hard drive from an existing backup.

To include or exclude items for the restore, do one of the following:

  • To include all data on a drive, individual data folders, or specific files to restore from the server backup, select the adjacent check box

  • To exclude all data on a drive, individual data folders, or specific files to restore from the server backup, clear the adjacent check box

Files and folders are restored to the state that they were at the time of the backup that you select to restore from. Data that was added to a file or folder since the chosen backup must be recreated.
