Publishing the Forefront UAG portal as a SharePoint Web Part

In some situations, you might want to provide access through your published SharePoint application to other applications that are published through the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) portal. To do this, you can use a SharePoint Web Part to provide access to the Forefront UAG portal.

To publish the Forefront UAG portal as a SharePoint Web Part

  1. In the Forefront UAG Management console, publish your SharePoint application as described in the other publishing topologies. For example, Publishing multiple SharePoint applications on unique ports.

  2. In the Forefront UAG Management console, in the Initial Internal Application area, in the Portal home page list, click the SharePoint application, and clear the Display home page within portal frame check box.

  3. In the Applications area, click the Portal application, and then click Edit.

  4. On the Application Properties dialog box, click the Web Servers tab. In the Addresses list, add the internal IP address of the Forefront UAG server, and then click OK.

  5. Activate the configuration.

  6. On the SharePoint server, in the web browser, go to the SharePoint site through which you want to provide access to the Forefront UAG portal.

  7. On the Site Actions menu, click Edit Page.

  8. Under Editing Tools, click Insert, and then click Web Part.

  9. In the Categories list, click Media and Content, in the Web Parts list, click Page Viewer, and then click Add.

  10. In the Page Viewer web part, click open the tool pane. If required, click OK to save your changes before continuing.

  11. In the Page Viewer tool pane, under Link, type the URL for the Forefront UAG portal in the format https://[Internal_UAG_IP_Address]:6001/[Secure][Trunk]PortalHomePage/ContentFrame.aspx.

    • Internal_UAG_IP_Address—The internal IP address of the Forefront UAG server.

    • Secure—Include the text ‘Secure’ if the Forefront UAG trunk is HTTPS

    • Trunk—Enter the name of the Forefront UAG trunk.

    For example, if the internal IP address is 10.1.1.20, the trunk is HTTPS, and the trunk name is Contoso, type the URL https://10.1.1.20:6001/SecureContosoPortalHomePage/ContentFrame.aspx.

    After typing the URL, click OK.

  12. In the SharePoint site editor, click Save & Close.

    Users can either go directly to the AAM URL of your published SharePoint application, for example, https://sharepoint.woodgrovebank.com, or to the portal URL, for example, https://www.woodgrovebank.com. In both cases, the SharePoint site appears and displays the Forefront UAG portal in the Web Part, and any applications that have been published.
