Configuring a Dedicated SMTP Connector for Your Archive

Topic Last Modified: 2011-04-05

You must configure a dedicated SMTP connector on your server running Exchange Server to route email to your archive.

To configure a dedicated SMTP connector
  1. On your server running Exchange Server, configure a dedicated SMTP connector to route email to the MX record for your hosted archive:

    Archive service: mail.messaging.microsoft.com

    Hosted archive domain: mail.messaging.microsoft.com

    EMEA Customers:

    Archive service: emea.mail.messaging.microsoft.com

    Hosted archive domain: emea.mail.messaging.microsoft.com

  2. Configure the SMTP connector to use DNS to discover the IP address, and to establish 50 or fewer concurrent connections per outbound IP address.

  3. Configure the transport layer security (TLS) on the SMTP connector to encrypt any outbound traffic.
