Configure Additional Properties

Topic Last Modified: 2011-04-06

Two additional features are useful to include as best practices for envelope journaling: Internet Message Format (IMF) and automatic forwarding to external users.

To provide additional assurance that messages are correctly forwarded to the EHS provider, we recommend that you implement IMF. This action will help ensure that your company can allow automatic forwarding to external recipients, and that you can control the format of the messages being sent to the Hosted Archive.

To forward your journaling messages automatically to the Hosted Archive or Hosted Continuity service, your company must allow automatic forwarding to external recipients.

To configure IMF and automatic forwarding
  1. Start Exchange System Manager, and expand Global Settings in the navigation pane.

  2. In the navigation pane, double-click Internet Message Formats to populate the right pane with the defined domains. By default, there is a single wildcard (*) domain.

  5. Click the Message Format tab, and do the following:

    • MIME check box: Select this check box.
    • Provide message body as plain text check box: Select this check box.

    noteNote:
Journaling messages must be submitted in plain text to the Hosted Archive or Hosted Continuity service to be processed correctly.
  6. Click the Advanced tab, and do the following:

    • Allow automatic forward check box: Select this check box.
    • All other check boxes: Select the check boxes that are appropriate for your environment.
