Enforcing and Removing FOPE Connector Associations

Applies to: Office 365 for enterprises, Live@edu, Forefront Online Protection for Exchange

Topic Last Modified: 2011-11-15

After configuring a Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) connector for use in a mail flow scenario, in order for it to be functional, you must enforce it for the company or select it for the domain. You can remove this association at any time; however, once a connector is in use for the domain, you cannot remove it for the company without first releasing it for the company or removing it for the domain. For more information about enforcing connectors, see Enforcing FOPE Connector Associations. For more information about releasing connector associations, see Removing Connector Associations.

When you attempt to enforce a FOPE connector, there is the possibility that it can conflict with an existing enforced connector, resulting in an error. See Understanding Conflicts When Enforcing a Connector Association for more information.
