Uninstall BDC Models (Duet Enterprise)

Applies to: Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP

BDC models are provided for all solutions that are provided with Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP. Although BDC Models are imported during deployment, you might want to uninstall models at a later time for the following reasons:

  • The SAP administrator has updated one or more models.

  • Some models that were imported during deployment are no longer in use.

Note

You must be a member of the Farm Administrators group to perform the procedures shown in this section.

In this article:

  • Before you begin

  • Verify the service application name of the Business Data Connectivity service

  • Uninstall BDC models

Before you begin

You will need the following information to uninstall the models.

  • The names of the BDC models that you plan to uninstall.

  • Service application name of the Business Data Connectivity service to which you want to install the models. By default, this name is “Business Data Connectivity Service”. For more information, see Verify the service application name of the Business_Data_Connectivity_service.

Verify the service application name of the Business Data Connectivity service

By default, the name of the Business Data Connectivity service is “Business Data Connectivity Service”. However, an administrator can change this name or an administrator might create a separate Business Data Connectivity service for use with Duet Enterprise.

To verify the service application name of the Business Data Connectivity service

  1. In Central Administration, on the Quick Launch, click Application Management.

  2. In the Service Applications section, click Manage service applications.

  3. In the Type column, find the Business Data Connectivity service application that you want to use.

The name of the Business Data Connectivity service application is listed in the Name column of that row.

Uninstall BDC models

Note

You must be a member of the Farm Administrators group to complete this procedure.

Important

This procedure is supported with BDC models that are provided with Duet Enterprise only. Do not use this procedure to delete a custom BDC model. For more information, see Manage BDC models (SharePoint Server 2010) (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=200925).

To uninstall Duet Enterprise BDC models

  1. Logon to any front-end Web server or application server in the SharePoint farm.

  2. Open a Command Prompt window as a farm administrator and at the prompt go to <SystemDrive>:\Program Files\Duet Enterprise\1.0.

  3. At the prompt type DuetConfig /RemoveBDC /Models <ListOfModels> /BDCServiceApplication <NameOfApplication>, and then press Enter.

    Where:

    • <ListOfModels> is a comma separated list of the models to be removed. If this option is omitted, all BDC models that are listed in the Models.xml file will be uninstalled. If you are removing more than one model, you must enclose the comma separated list with quotes.

    • <NameOfApplication> is the name of the service application where the models are installed.

    Important

If the version number of a BDC model that you uninstalled by using this procedure is higher than the version number provided by Duet Enterprise, the BDC model will be uninstalled, but the external content types that are provided by that BDC model will not be uninstalled. This can occur if a designer uses SharePoint Designer to customize the BDC model. Note that this is not a common scenario. To uninstall the external content types, see "Delete an external content type" section in Manage external content types (SharePoint Server 2010) (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=206763).
