Deploying Windows Azure Worker Nodes in Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Step-by-Step Guide

You can add Windows Azure worker nodes to your Windows® HPC Server 2008 R2 cluster that has been updated with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later of Microsoft® HPC Pack 2008 R2. Adding the worker nodes requires a worker node template that specifies a connection to an existing subscription for Windows Azure, an availability policy for the worker nodes, and other settings. After worker nodes are added to the cluster, you can start them, which provisions the Windows Azure role instances, and then bring them online to run HPC cluster jobs. This guide provides step-by-step procedures for deploying Windows Azure worker nodes in a Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 cluster.

A Windows Azure worker role instance runs a guest operating system that is substantially compatible with Windows Server® 2008 R2.
