Installing FPSMC in a Hyper-V Virtual Environment

Microsoft Forefront Protection Server Management Console (FPSMC) supports the Hyper-V platform. Hyper-V is a hypervisor-based server virtualization technology that enables you to consolidate multiple server roles as separate virtual machines running on a single physical computer. For more information about Hyper-V, see the Hyper-V and Virtualization TechCenter (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=126643\&clcid=0x409).

Note

FPSMC is also approved for any hypervisor-based virtualization technology certified under the Microsoft Server Virtualization Validation program.

The deployment, configuration, and operation of the FPSMC is the same in Hyper-V virtual server environments as on physical servers. The minimum server requirements for the FPSMC are the same when installing in a virtual Hyper-V environment as on a physical server. For information about the FPSMC system requirements, see Verifying System Requirements.

Note

The Hyper-V guest time zone configuration should be set to the same time zone as the Hyper-V host.

If you are installing the FPSMC on primary and backup servers in a Hyper-V environment, it is recommended that you use separate host computers for the two servers.
