Unattended Installation
Applies To: Forefront Endpoint Protection
This topic describes how to perform an unattended installation of Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP). During an unattended installation, instead of prompting for installation and configuration information, Setup uses the parameters contained in a setup configuration file. Any of the installation topologies can be installed in this way by defining the appropriate parameters in the configuration file. For more information about unattended installation configuration files, see Setup Configuration Files.
Prerequisites
Before you install FEP on a server, make sure that your environment meets all of the prerequisites. For more information, see Prerequisites for Installing Forefront Endpoint Protection on a Server.
To install FEP in unattended mode
Insert the FEP DVD into the DVD drive.
Open an elevated command prompt, navigate to the folder where ServerSetup.exe is located, and then run the following command:
ServerSetup.exe /S <Configuration file>
where <Configuration file> is the name and location of a file that contains parameters for Setup.
Tip
By default, unattended installation does not return an exit status. If you require the exit status, prefix the command with start /wait as follows:
start /wait ServerSetup.exe /S<Configuration file>
Next Steps
Once you have completed the installation, you should validate the installation. For more information, see Validating the Installation.
