Show, hide, or change task panes

Task panes appear on the left side of, or above and below, the map view. You can use them to track your location with a GPS receiver, create routes, display navigation instructions, find nearby places, and so on.

Show or hide the Legend and overview pane

To show the Legend and overview pane

  • On the View menu, point to Panes, and then click Legend and overview.

    – or –

    On the Standard toolbar, click Legend and overview Gg674658.ALLLegendButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Legend and overview pane

  • Click Legend and overview Gg674658.ALLLegendButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    – or –

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Territories pane

You must create territories before you can show or hide the Territory manager pane.

To show the Territories pane

  • On the Data menu, click Territories.

    – or –

    On the Standard toolbar, click Territories Gg674658.BIZTerritoriesButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Territories pane

  • Click Territories Gg674658.BIZTerritoriesButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    – or –

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Find nearby places pane

To show the Find nearby places pane

  • On the Tools menu, click Find nearby places.

    – or –

    On the Standard toolbar, click Find nearby places Gg674658.ALLFindNPButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Find nearby places pane

  • Click Find nearby places Gg674658.ALLFindNPButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Route planner pane

To show the Route planner pane

  • On the Route menu, click Route planner.

    On the Standard toolbar, click Route planner Gg674658.ALLRouteButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Route planner pane

  • Click Route planner Gg674658.ALLRouteButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Directions pane

  • On the Route menu, click Directions.

To hide the Directions pane

  • On the Tools menu, click GPS task pane.

To hide the GPS task pane

  • Click GPS task pane Gg674658.ALLGPSButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Navigation pane

To show the Navigation pane

  • On the Tools menu, click Navigation pane.

To hide the Navigation pane

  • Click Navigation pane Gg674658.FULLDrivingGuidanceIcon(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Map settings pane

To show the Map settings pane

  • On the View menu, point to Panes, and then click Map settings.

    On the Standard toolbar, click Map settings Gg674658.Map_Settings_toolbar(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Map settings pane

  • Click Map settings Gg674658.Map_Settings_toolbar(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Show or hide the Search results pane

To show the Search results pane

  • On the Tools menu, click Search results.

    – or –

    On the Standard toolbar, click Search results Gg674658.WLS(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

To hide the Search results pane

  • Click Search results Gg674658.WLS(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

    – or –

    In the upper-right corner of the pane, click Close Gg674658.ALLClose(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

Change task panes

To change the left pane from one task pane to another

Click the name of the pane that is currently open, and on the drop-down menu, click the name of the task pane that you want.

Note   If you are using a GPS device and Show GPS sensor when pane is closed is selected in the Options dialog box, the GPS Sensor dialog box appears on the map when a task pane other than the GPS pane is open.
