Account profiles make it easy to switch between Windows Mode and Surface Mode. All registry subkeys based on Microsoft Surface mode are located under the Profiles key.
The three profiles (Developer, SurfaceStandard, and SurfaceDebug) and the Default profile (the root profile that the other profiles are derived from) determine how the device behaves when that type of user is logged on, as detailed in the following list:
The Developer profile makes sure that all users who log on as administrators have access to Windows 7.
The SurfaceStandard profile makes sure that all users have access only to Launcher and registered applications and that all Windows dialog boxes and pop-up windows are suppressed.
The SurfaceDebug profile makes sure that all developers who are testing applications have access to Launcher, registered applications, and the appropriate troubleshooting tools.
