Package Types

5/4/2012

With Device Manager 2011 you can create configuration packages in addition to other types of packages that you can create in Configuration Manager 2007. A package is a collection of items that is delivered to a collection of devices by using features in Configuration Manager or Device Manager 2011.

You can create packages that contain one or more of the following:

  • Device configuration
  • An executable program or script to run on a device
  • Individual files
  • Software updates
  • Individual commands

The following table shows package types and the related wizards and features in Configuration Manager and Device Manager 2011 that deliver specific types of packages to the device.
