Hierarchy designer (form)

Click Organization administration > Setup > Organization > Organization hierarchies. Select a hierarchy and then click the View button.

Use the Hierarchy designer - form to view or modify an organizational hierarchy.

Create or modify an organization hierarchy

The following table provides descriptions for the controls in this form.

Edit

Change the form from view mode to edit mode.

Calendar

Select a date to view how the hierarchy appeared on that date.

Effective date

Select a future date when changes will become effective to view how the hierarchy will appear after those changes take effect. Use this option to view published hierarchies that take effect on a future date.

Hierarchy details

Open the Organization hierarchies form to view the purpose of the hierarchy and the organization types that are allowed in the hierarchy.

Organization details

Open the details form to view the details for the selected organization type.

Purposes

Open the Organization hierarchy purposes form to view information about the purpose of the hierarchy.

Hide or show preview pane

Hide or show a preview pane under the organization hierarchy diagram. The preview pane displays the organization type, search name, and ID number for the selected organization. For legal entities, the preview pane shows the company ID that is associated with the legal entity.

Save as draft

Save changes as a draft, but do not publish the hierarchy.

Publish and close

Select a date from the calendar when to publish the hierarchy. You can also specify the time zone and provide a brief description of the changes that you are publishing.

Note

You cannot publish updates to the hierarchy between existing effective dates. Changes must take effect after the last effective date that was published for the hierarchy.

Insert

Insert an organization into the hierarchy. Only the organization types that are allowed for the hierarchy purpose are available in the list.

Remove

Remove an organization from the hierarchy. Removing an organization from the hierarchy does not delete it from the system.
