Change the display name for a user account

Use this procedure to manage user accounts that were created using the Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials Dashboard. If the computer running Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials is joined to a domain, you must log on to the domain controller to manage the domain users.

The display name is the name that appears in the Name column on the Users page of the Dashboard. Changing the display name does not change the Logon name for a user account.

To change the display name for a user account

  1. Open the Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials Dashboard.

  2. On the main navigation bar, click Users.

  3. In the list of user accounts, select the user account that you want to change.

  4. In the <User Account> Tasks pane, click View the account properties. The Properties page for the user account appears.

  5. On the General tab, type a new First name or Last name for the user account, and then click OK.

    The new display name appears in the list of user accounts.
