Reinstall connector software on a computer with existing backups

Applies To: Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials

If you uninstalled the Connector software on a computer or replaced the computer with a computer with the same name, you must install the Connector software to connect the computer to the server again.

When you uninstalled the Connector software on a computer, you could choose to keep or delete the backups. If you chose to keep the backups, the backups for that computer are not affected when you reinstall the connector software.

If you replace a computer with a computer of the same name, you can use the existing backups to restore the new computer to the state of the old computer at the time of the backup, or you can use the existing backup to restore files and folders to the new computer.
