Create, edit, or delete a project or subproject (EP)

You can use the New project page to create a project or subproject that can be accessed from both Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX and the Microsoft Dynamics AX client. After you create a project or subproject, use the Edit project page to enter additional project information now, or to modify existing project information later.

Create a project

Before you can create a subproject from an existing project, the project must be set up as a project template. For instructions on setting up a project as a project template, see Copy a project.

  1. Click Project management on the top link bar.

  2. On the Action Pane, on the Project tab, in the New group, click Project.

  3. On the New project page, in the Project type field, select the type of project that you want to create.

  4. In the Project ID field, enter an alphanumeric code that will be used to identify this project throughout the application.

    Note

    If your legal entity has chosen to have project identifiers assigned automatically, you do not need to enter one here.

  5. In the Project name field, enter a name for the project.

  6. In the Project group field, select the project group with which this project will be associated.

  7. In the Project contract ID field, select the project contract with which this project will be associated.

  8. In the Customer account field, select the ID of the customer with which this project will be associated.

  9. Click Create.

Create a subproject

  1. Click Project management on the top link bar, and then in the Project name column, click the project that you want to work with.

  2. On the Action Pane, on the Project tab, in the New group, click Subproject.

  3. On the New project page, in the Project type field, select the type of subproject that you want to create.

  4. In the Project ID field, enter an alphanumeric code that will be used to identify this subproject throughout the application.

    Note

    If your legal entity has chosen to have project identifiers assigned automatically, you cannot enter one here.

  5. In the Project name field, enter a name for the subproject.In the Project contract ID field, select the project contract with which this subproject will be associated.

  6. In the Customer account field, select the ID of the customer with which this subproject will be associated.

  7. Click Create.

Edit a project or subproject

  1. Click Project management on the top link bar, and then in the Project name column, click the project or subproject that you want to work with.

  2. On the Action Pane, on the Project tab, in the Maintain group, click Edit.

  3. On the Edit project page, make any required changes, and then click Save and close.

Delete a project or subproject

  1. Click Project management on the top link bar, and then in the Project name column, click the project or subproject that you want to work with.

  2. On the Action Pane, on the Project tab, in the Maintain group, click Delete.

  3. In the Projects confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
