Click Product information management > Common > Released products. Double-click the product to open the Released product details form.

Use this form to create and manage the base data for formula products. Company and organization accounts use the base data for purchases, sales, warehouse management, inventory journals, production, and projects.

You must specify an item number, item group, inventory model group, and dimension group. It is optional to specify details that are applied for purchase orders, sales orders, warehouse management, production, master planning, projects, and human resources.

Product

View and maintain general information about the formula. To switch between view and edit, click the Edit button in the Maintain group.

Purchase

View, set up, and maintain approved vendors in the Approved vendor group.

Sell

View and create trade agreements in the Trade agreements group.

Manage inventory

View and manage information for inventory batches. Some of the functions that are available for inventory batches are described below:

  • In the View group, select options to view on-hand inventory and manage lots and batches.

  • In the Packaging group, select options to set up bulk item conversions and view on-hand inventory for consolidated batch orders.

  • In the Batch attributes group, select options to assign batch attributes to products and products by customer and to search inventory for items that have certain attributes.

General

Maintain general information about the product such as the inventory dimension groups and the item model group.

Purchase

Maintain the vendor check method for an approved vendor.

Sell

Maintain the item rebate group and freight allocation group for customer rebate agreements.

Manage inventory

Maintain information about catch weight units of measure and nominal and minimal quantities, and shelf life, shelf advice, and best before periods.

Engineer

Maintain information about formulas and formula planning.

Manage costs

Maintain information about costs related to posting, pricing, and charges.

Financial dimensions

The default financial dimensions for the main account. When you select a financial dimension value, the Where the %1 dimension is used field group displays where the dimension is used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

Setup

Open the Approved vendor list form to add and maintain vendors who are approved to provide the selected product. You can also specify an effective period to view vendors who are approved during that specific time frame. If you specify only an effective date, all vendors who are approved on or after that date appear in the list.

Approved vendors

Open the Approved vendor list by item form to view a list of vendors who have been approved for purchases of a certain item.

Effective period

Open the Approved vendor list expiration form to view a list of approved vendors as of a certain expiration date.

Batches

Open the Batches form to create, maintain, and view inventory batches.

Bulk item conversion

(Manage inventory tab)

Open the Bulk item conversion form to set up the information that is required to convert a packed formula item to a related bulk item.

Consolidated on-hand

(Manage inventory tab)

Open the Consolidated on-hand form to view consolidated on-hand inventory for the bulk and packed item.

Product specific

(Manage inventory tab)

Open the Product specific form to view and maintain batch attributes and batch attribute groups for batch-controlled inventory items.

Customer specific

Open the Customer specific form to view and maintain batch attributes and batch attribute groups for batch-controlled items that are associated with specific customers.

Search inventory

Open the Batch attribute search form to enter search criterion to locate an inventory batch that has certain attributes.

Open the Batches form to create, maintain, and view inventory batches.

Open the Where-used form to open a formula that uses the selected item.

Field

Description

Approved vendor check method

(Purchase FastTab)

If the product is associated with an approved vendor, select the method that identifies the type of validation that is performed when a transaction, such as a purchase order, uses this item. The options are as follows:

  • No check ─ The approved vendor list is not verified for the product.

  • Warning only ─ A warning is displayed when you select a vendor who is not on the approved vendor list for this product. However, you can continue with the transaction.

  • Not allowed ─ An error message is displayed when you select a vendor who is not on the approved vendor list for this product. The transaction is not completed.

Item rebate group

If the product is associated with a rebate agreement, select the item rebate group to apply item rebates at the group level. By default, any qualifying item rebate that is processed at the group level applies to every item in that group.

Freight allocation group

(Sell FastTab)

If the product is associated with a rebate agreement, select the item freight group to apply freight accrual at the group level. By default, any freight accrual that is processed at the group level applies to every item in that group.

CW pallet quantity

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The quantity of items in catch weight units that can be stored on a pallet.

CW Min. output pallet quantity

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The minimum output pallet quantity in catch weight units that can be used for output transport.

CW quantity per layer

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The quantity of items in catch weight units that can be stored per layer on a pallet.

Batch number group

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The identification of the batch number group tracking dimension.

Shelf advice period in days

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The number of days that were added to the created date of the batch to calculate the Shelf advice date.

Tip

Quality orders can be created for batches where the shelf advice date is overdue.

Shelf life period in days

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The number of days that were added to the Manufacturing date of the inventory batch to calculate the Expiration date of the batch.

Best before period in days

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The number of days that were subtracted from the Expiration date of the inventory batch to calculate the Best before date.

Catch weight item

(Manage inventory FastTab)

Identification of items that are categorized as catch weight items.

Tip

Receipts and issues for catch weight items can be registered in inventory by using two different units of measure.

CW unit

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The catch weight unit of measure for the item. This unit of measure identifies the second unit of measure in which the item can be registered in inventory.

Nominal quantity

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The identification of the nominal factor between the inventory unit of measure and the catch weight unit of measure for a catch weight item. The catch weight quantity is based on a unit conversion that is set up between the catch weight unit and the inventory unit for the item.

Minimum quantity

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The minimum quantity of inventory units that are allowed for the catch weight item. The minimum and maximum quantities define the variance in quantity that is acceptable for inbound and outbound processes.

Maximum quantity

(Manage inventory FastTab)

The maximum quantity of inventory units allowed for the catch weight item. The minimum and maximum quantities define the variance in quantity that is acceptable for inbound and outbound processes.

Production type

(Engineer FastTab)

The identification of the production type. The options are as follows: Co-product, By-product, Planning item, BOM, Formula, or None.

Planning formula

(Engineer FastTab)

The identification of the planning formula.

Tip

For items of the type Co-product you can use this field to select an item of the type Planning item. For planning items, a planned batch order is generated by master planning to cover demands for the co-product.

Base attribute

Select an integer or fraction attribute to use as the default base attribute for the potency item.

Note

This field is available only if the inventory dimension group that is assigned to the potency item has the batch dimension set to Active and the Primary stocking dimension check box selected.

Target

The target value of the specified base attribute that is assigned to the potency item.

Record the attribute value

The attribute value that is recorded for the specified potency item.

Fixed attribute

Select this check box to assign a fixed base attribute. If inventory transactions exist for the specified item, you cannot edit this field.

Adjustment principle

Select one of the following default adjustment principle options for the specified item:

  • None

  • Difference additive

Note

You can use the adjustment principle active ingredients that are specified in formulas for a potency item.
