Rule Name

HTTP Connectivity with Autodiscover - RPC over HTTP failure (RpcProxy)

Explanation

This Error event message indicates that Microsoft Office Outlook could not connect to the server because an error occurred in Microsoft Remote Procedure Call (RPC) over HTTP.

Outlook uses RPC to exchange data with the Exchange store and with Active Directory directory service.

This technology wraps remote procedure calls (RPCs) together with an HTTP layer. This lets traffic traverse network firewalls without requiring RPC ports to be opened.

User Action

To troubleshoot this issue, see Troubleshooting RPC over HTTP Communications.
