The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers running Exchange 2010 and generates this alert when the events specified in the following Details table are logged.

Rule Name

Explanation

This Error event indicates that an exception occurred in the Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) database and has made it impossible for the function to continue. This error may occur if a log file is missing, if a log file contains errors, if the database is corrupted, or for other reasons.

The full error message that is logged in Event 2097 is as follows: The Microsoft Exchange Replication service encountered an Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) exception in database '%1'. Error %2 (%3).

User Action

To resolve this problem, view Event 2097 in Event Viewer, and then use the information that is provided to troubleshoot the specified error for the specified database.

Review the Application log and System log on your Exchange 2010 servers for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.
