Deleting a Configuration Item

This section provides instructions for deleting a configuration item.

To delete a configuration item

  1. In Configuration Manager console, in the left pane, expand Site Database, expand Computer Management, expand Embedded Device Management, and expand Device Configuration.

  2. Click Configuration Items, right-click the configuration item that you want to delete, and then click Delete. One of two pages will appear:

    • If the configuration item to be deleted is included in a configuration package, the Cannot delete configuration item dialog box appears with this message: This configuration item is included in the following configuration packages and therefore cannot be deleted. To delete this item, first remove it from each configuration package. Click OK.
    • If the configuration item to be deleted is not included in a configuration package, the Confirm Object Deletion dialog box will ask you if you want to delete this configuration item. Click Yes or No.
