A process serving an application pool failed to respond to a ping. See the system event log for more information.

Explanation

This Warning event indicates that the Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) is not running or that errors occurred during the startup or shutdown of an application pool.

Web sites and Web applications depend on the availability of Internet Information Services (IIS) application pools. IIS application pools, in turn, depend on WAS. If WAS is not running, or if errors occur during the startup or shutdown of an application pool, Web sites and Web applications may not be available.

User Action

To resolve this problem, follow the procedure in the following topic:

Event ID 5010 — IIS Application Pool Availability.
