Deploy Feature Pack 1 for Duet Enterprise 1.0

Applies to: Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP

Feature Pack 1 for Duet Enterprise 1.0 is comprised of two solutions: the Aggregated Business Calendar solution and the user profile-based forms solution. You can deploy either one or both solutions. Note that the user profile-based forms solution is a sample solution. We recommend that you do not deploy the user profile-based forms solution in a production environment until a developer has customized it.

The Aggregated Business Calendar solution enables you to work with multiple calendars at the same time. Site Owners can aggregate up to four of any of the following types of calendars into the Aggregated Business Calendar Web Part: SAP calendars, SharePoint calendars, Exchange calendars, and custom calendars. For example, a site owner can add two SharePoint calendars, one Exchange calendar, and one SAP Business calendar, or four SAP Business calendars. Any combination of these calendar types is supported. To have these calendars aggregated into one place helps you avoid switching between different calendars, and you can easily compare schedules and avoid schedule conflicts.

The User profile-based List Forms solution is a sample solution that demonstrates how you can expose different fields in a list form to different users based on their SharePoint user profiles. This enables a solution developer to design a solution that displays only the fields in a form that a particular user needs to work with, thus increasing the productivity of the end user. Note that this solution is intended to be customized by a developer before you deploy it to a production environment.

Get the solution packages

To deploy Feature Pack 1 for Duet Enterprise 1.0, you must add one or both of the solution packages that comprise the feature pack to the solution store of your Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 farm. You must then deploy the added solution packages. The .WSP files that comprise Feature Pack 1 are available in an .iso file which can be downloaded from MSDN Subscriptions site. You will need an MSDN subscription to get the .iso file. We recommend that you use the .iso file to create a DVD and then copy the files from the DVD to a location where an administrator who will add the solution packages to the SharePoint farm has a minimum of read access. Note that you must already have Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP deployed before you can deploy Feature Pack 1.

To get Feature Pack 1

  1. Browse to the MSDN Subscription (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=163136) site.

Make sure that you are signed in to your MSDN subscriber account.

  2. Click Subscriber Downloads.

  3. In the search box, type Duet Enterprise and then click Duet Enterprise in the search results.

  4. In the Feature Pack 1 for Duet Enterprise 1.0, SharePoint components (x64) - DVD (Multiple Languages) row, click Download.

    Note

If you are not signed in, the link will be named Sign in instead of Download. If this happens, sign in to your account and then click Download.

The mu_fp_1_for_duet_enterprise_1_0_sharepoint_components_x64_dvd_755820.iso file contains two folders. The Core folder contains the files for the Aggregated Business Calendar solution. The SDK folder contains the file for the User profile-based List Forms solution.

Important

We recommend that you do not deploy the OBAExtensionsSDK.wsp solution in a production environment until a developer has customized it.

The Core folder contains thirteen .wsp files for the Aggregated Business Calendar feature. The following sections show how to add and deploy these solution packages. The SDK folder contains the OBAExtensionsSDK.wsp file which is a sample solution. Developers can use Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 to customize the solution to hide fields in forms for some users based on the SAP role that is assigned to the user. For more information, see How To: Customize Sample Profile-Based Form Feature (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=228572).
