Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
Click Production control > Setup > Lean manufacturing > Production flows. On the Versions FastTab, click Activities, and then click Details.
Use this form to view the detailed settings that are configured for the production flow activity. You can change some of these settings. However, if the activity is used in a production flow version that is activated, many of the settings cannot be changed. You can also update an activity for a production flow by adding and removing picking activities and services.
Navigating the form
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.
General FastTab
These parameters identify and describe the activity.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Activity |
The identity of the activity. |
Name |
The name of the activity. You can modify this field. |
Activity type |
The type of the activity. |
Operating unit |
The operating unit that the activity is assigned to. |
Transfer details FastTab
These parameters are defined for the transfer activity. These include the inventory location dimensions and settings that are used to control inventory transactions. This FastTab is only displayed for transfer activities.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
From location |
The warehouse and location from which the products are picked. |
To location |
The warehouse and location to which the products are transferred. |
Pick up semi-finished |
A selected check box indicates that the activity consumes semifinished products. You can modify this field if the activity does not have upstream activity constraints. |
Receive semi-finished |
A selected check box indicates that the activity transfers semifinished products. You can modify this field if the activity does not have downstream activity constraints. |
Update on hand on receipt |
A selected check box indicates that the activity transfers finished products, and that the product receipt is registered in inventory. You can modify this field if the activity does not have downstream activity constraints. |
Update on hand on pick |
A selected check box indicates that the picking activity of the transfer consumes products that are inventory controlled. The product consumption reduces the on-hand inventory. You can modify this field if the activity does not have upstream activity constraints. |
Process details FastTab
These parameters are defined for the process activity. These include the work cell and settings that are used to control inventory transactions. This FastTab is only displayed for process activities.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Resource group |
The work cell where the activity is performed. |
Pick up semi-finished |
A selected check box indicates that the activity consumes semifinished products. You can modify this field if the activity does not have upstream activity constraints. |
Receive semi-finished |
A selected check box indicates that the activity outputs semifinished products. You can modify this field if the activity does not have downstream activity constraints. |
Update on hand inventory |
A selected check box indicates that the activity outputs products that are inventory controlled. You can modify this field if the activity does not have downstream activity constraints. |
Warehouse |
The output warehouse of the work cell where products are received. |
Location |
The output location of the work cell where products are received. |
Downstream flow |
A selected check box indicates that the activity can supply other downstream production flows. You can modify this field. |
Picking activities FastTab
Define the parameters that are used to register inventory transactions when material is picked for a process activity. The actual material requirements of a kanban job are derived from a selected BOM (bill of material) version of the finished product.
Button |
Description |
---|---|
Add |
Add a picking activity. |
Remove |
Delete a picking activity. |
Dimensions |
Open the Dimensions display form, where you can select the dimensions that are displayed in the Picking activities grid. |
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Item number |
Select the item and product dimensions to define a picking activity for a specific product. Leave the field blank to use the default picking activity. |
Site |
Select the site where the picking activity is valid. |
Warehouse |
Select the warehouse where the picking activity is valid. |
Location |
Select the location where the products are picked. |
Update on hand |
Select the check box to define the picking activity as inventory controlled. |
Register scrap |
Select the check box to apply the scrap factor, which is defined on the BOM line, when the inventory transaction is registered. If you do not select the check box, the scrap factor is only applied on the planned transaction. It is not applied when the finished product quantity is registered. |
Service terms FastTab
Create service terms for activities that are configured to be subcontracted.
Button |
Description |
---|---|
Add |
Open a wizard where you can configure a subcontracted service for the activity. |
Remove |
Remove the service from the activity. |

Default |
Indicates that the service is used as the default service for the activity. |
Activity times FastTab
Define activity times for the activity. Activity times are used to determine the due dates of the corresponding kanban jobs that are generated, and the issue times for material in the picking list. Activity times are also used to calculate service times for subcontracted activities. Activity times are not used to load the work cell schedule for kanban jobs. The work cell schedule for the Hours capacity model is loaded with the average cycle time of an activity.
Button |
Description |
---|---|
Add |
Add and configure an activity time. The types of activity times that can be added are as follows:
|
Remove |
Delete an activity time. The types of activity times that can be deleted are as follows:
|
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Quantity |
Enter the minimum quantity to use to calculate the actual time that a job will require, or the labor cost for a job when calculating standard cost. If this value is higher than the actual job quantity, or the actual job quantity is not a multiple of this value, then the cost and times are rounded up to the next multiple of this value. If you do not want to round up, then the value should be the lowest allowed by the unit of measure. For quantities without decimal points, this is 1. For quantities with two decimal points, this is .01. Examples
|
Unit of measure |
Select the unit of measure to use with the product quantity. |
Time |
Enter the time that is required to complete the activity. |
