Verifying the FIM1 installation for the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 test lab consists of the following:

  • Verify the Build Numbers of the FIM Synchronization Service

  • Run the FIM Synchronization Service UI

Verify the Build Numbers of the FIM Synchronization Service

To verify the build numbers of the FIM Synchronization Service

  1. Log on to FIM1 as CORP\Administrator.

  2. Navigate to the following directory: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Synchronization Service\Bin .

  3. Locate the miiserver.exe file, right-click and select Properties. This will bring up the Properties dialog box.

  4. At the top, click the Details tab.

  5. Look for Product Version and note the value. It should be 4.0.3531.2. Click Cancel.

Run the FIM Synchronization Service UI

To run the FIM Synchronization Service UI

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, select Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager, and click Synchronization Service. This should launch the Synchronization Service.

  2. Once this opens, close the Synchronization Service.

Snapshot the Configuration

This completes the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 test lab. To save this configuration for additional test labs, do the following:

  1. On all physical computers or virtual machines in the test lab, close all windows and then perform a graceful shutdown.

  2. If your lab is based on virtual machines, save a snapshot of each virtual machine and name the snapshots FIM Test Lab. If your lab uses physical computers, create disk images to save the FIM Test Lab.
