How To Modify Channel Configuration

This procedure is optional. You perform this procedure when you need to create a different set of pricing rules or other catalog-related rules for a particular site variation.

To modify the Channel Configuration

  1. Open Catalog Manager and connect to the appropriate Catalog Web service for your site.

    If you created your site with the sample data included with Commerce Server 2009, you should see the Adventure Works Catalog listed.

  2. On the Tasks menu, select Create a New Virtual Catalog.

  3. In the Create New Virtual Catalog Wizard window, click Next.

  4. On the Virtual Catalog Properties page, enter the appropriate data for the virtual catalog. This procedure uses French as an example target language. Do the following:

    Catalog Name

    Type French Adventure Works Catalog.

    Currency

    Select EUR or select the appropriate currency for the locale.

  5. Click Next.

  6. On the Virtual Catalog Custom Properties page, click Next.

  7. On the Catalog Languages page, click Add, select français (France), and then click OK.

  8. In Catalog Languages box, under the Catalog Display Name column, edit the catalog display name to match the target language.

  9. For Default Language, select français (France) from the drop-down list.

  10. For Reporting Language, select français (France) from the drop-down list, and then click Next.

  11. On the Virtual Catalog Summary page, click Create to create the catalog.

  12. On the Completing the New Virtual Catalog Wizard page, click Finish to exit the wizard.

  13. Repeat steps 2 through 12 to add additional virtual catalogs for other languages.

  14. To add the contents of the Adventure Works Catalog base catalog to the virtual catalog:

    1. In Catalog Manager, in the Catalogs pane, right-click Adventure Works Catalog, and then click Add to Virtual Catalog.

    2. In the Select a Virtual Catalog window, select the virtual catalog you want to add to, and then click OK.

    3. Repeat steps a through c to add to additional virtual catalogs.

  15. In Catalog Manager, select the virtual catalog that you just created. You will be prompted that the virtual catalog needs to be rebuilt. Click OK. Repeat for each virtual catalog.

  16. Open the root intranet-facing Default Site in your browser. The URL should look like http://server:port/Pages/default.aspx.

  17. Click Site Actions and then Site Settings.

  18. From the left pane, select a language site variation.

  19. On the home page for that site variation, click Site Actions, and then click View All Site Content.

  20. In Lists section, click Channel Configuration.

  21. In the SharePoint ribbon, select Items from the List Tools tab.

  22. Click on the Items tab, and then select Channel.

  23. On the Channel Configuration - Channel window, click Edit Item and type in a value of Default.

  24. Click Save

  25. On the Items tab view, click DefaultCatalog.

  26. On the Channel Configuration - DefaultCatalog window, click Edit Item and, in the Value field, type in the name of the appropriate virtual catalog, for example French Adventure Works Catalog,

  27. Repeat steps 16 through 22 for each site variation.
