Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon

The Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon is a Silverlight application that adds a toolbar onto the Solution Storefront site providing marketers and merchandisers with the ability to perform business management functions directly on the site, so that they can see the changes instantaneously, in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) experience. These changes are reflected back to the master catalog within Commerce Server 2009 R2.

The Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon is context aware, meaning it offers functions based on the currently viewed page as well as the permissions of the user.

The Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon displays buttons that provide quick access to functions of the Cross-Sell/Up Sell Relationship Manager, Catalog Item Editor, and the Product Image Management tool.

In addition, from the Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon, authorized business users can request a refresh of the catalog cache by clicking the Refresh Cache button.

While the Silverlight-based Commerce Server Business Administration Ribbon and the applications are built in to the out of the box Solution Storefront site, Commerce Server 2009 R2 provides developers the ability to extend upon and integrate the ribbon into their own application or into a custom web site. For information about Silverlight-based application integration, see Silverlight Business Administration Tools Integration.
