Applies To: System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1

This topic provides step-by-step instructions to create the task sequence for the stand-alone media that is used to migrate to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager when using the Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit. The task sequence automates the process of virtualizing a Configuration Manager 2007 site server.

To create the task sequence

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft System Center, and then click P2V Migration Toolkit.

  2. In the administrative interface, click Create a task sequence.

  3. In the Connect to Site dialog box, enter the Site Server Name and Site Code.

  4. In the Task Sequence Designer, on the Task Sequence Information page, type a name for this task sequence, select an existing boot image, and then click Next.

  5. On the Installation Information page, in Specify the WIM image package, select the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system image package, select an associated image index in the list, and then click Next.

    Note

Optional, enter information in Licensing information.

  6. On the Install ConfigMgr Client page, select the Configuration Manager client installation package that you want, and then click Next.

  7. If you are using the Task Sequence Designer for the first time, go directly to the next step.

If you have already created a virtualization tools package using the Task Sequence Designer, click Use an existing virtualization tools package, select an existing virtualization tools package, and then click Next.

  8. If you are using the Task Sequence Designer for the first time, click Create a new virtualization tools package, and then click Next. Type a name for the virtualization tools package, in Deployment share, select a server share location for copying Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit, make selections for the distribution points for deploying the virtualization tools package, and then click Next.

  9. If you want to specify additional programs for the task sequence to install after it deploys the operating system, on the Add Software Packages page, click Add, and then select from the available packages or programs. Repeat this step to select additional packages or programs.

    Note

The list of programs is filtered to show only those packages that are configured in Configuration Manager 2007 to run with administrative rights and those programs that are configured to run if a user is logged on or not.

  10. Complete the wizard.

Next Steps

Now that you created a task sequence that contains the Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit, the next step is to create the stand-alone media.
