|This topic provides online help content for cloud services, such as Windows Intune and Office 365, which rely on Microsoft Azure Active Directory for identity and directory services.|
If you are an administrator for a Microsoft cloud service and have forgotten your password, you can reset your password using the Reset Your Password web page. At this time, only administrators can use this page to reset their own passwords.
You can also ask a user management administrator or a global administrator to reset your password for you.
|To reset your own password, you must have already provided an alternate email address and a mobile phone number that is enabled with text messaging. For instructions on how to add this information to a user account, see Create or edit users.|
To reset your own password, do the following:
On the sign in page, click Can’t access your account?
Note If you do not see a Can't access your account? link, click your user ID.
On the User verification page, type your user ID and the characters for verification, and then click Next.
An email containing further instructions will be sent to your alternate email address.
Read the instructions in the email message, and then click the link Reset your password now.
If you have directory sync enabled or have added a custom domain, then when you click the link in email you will be sent a security code that you will need to enter on the Mobile phone verification page.
Important You need to respond within 10 minutes to the email and to the text message. You need to complete the reset process using the same computer and browser session. If you close your browser window, or take longer than 10 minutes to respond, you'll have to restart the process.
On the Create a new password page, type a new password, confirm the new password, and then click Finish.
When your password has been reset, click the link in the wizard to return to the sign-in page and sign in with your new password.
