Change your password

When you first sign in to a Microsoft cloud service, you use the temporary password given to you, and then create a new password to use for sign-in thereafter. You can also change your password at any time after you have signed in. This topic addresses changing your password after you have signed in.
The following steps can be completed using either the Office 365 account portal, the Windows Intune account portal or the Windows Azure AD portal, depending on which services your organization has subscribed to. In this way, portals act as front-end interfaces that pull in directory data associated with your organizations Windows Azure AD tenant. To change your password, follow these steps:
Depending on which portal you are using, in the header, click either My profile or click YourProfileName, and then click Change password.
On the Change password page, type your old password, a new password, and then retype the new password to confirm it. When you change your password, use the following guidelines:
Use 8 to 16 characters.
Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters.
Use at least one number or symbol.
Do not use spaces, tabs, or line breaks.
Do not use your user name (the part of your user ID to the left of the @ symbol).

By default, user passwords are set to expire on a regular basis. When your password expires you are notified at sign-in.
If you forget your password, you must request a password reset from the cloud service administrator. Your administrator can provide you with a new temporary password to use the next time you sign in.
If you forget your password and you are the only cloud service administrator in your organization, you can reset your own password if you have previously provided an alternate email address and a mobile phone number that can receive a text message.
