Summary: Learn how to create a master key for the Secure Store Service application in Duet Enterprise 2.0, the third stage in an installation of Duet Enterprise 2.0 in a SharePoint Server 2013 environment.

This article describes the procedure to create a master key for the Secure Store Service application in Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP Server 2.0.

A master key allows secure communications between SharePoint Server 2013 and SAP. Specifically, the communication is between the Secure Store Service application and the SAP NetWeaver server.

Create a master key

A master key is required to successfully configure the DuetRoot.pfx certificate. Use this procedure to generate a new master key.

To create a master key

  1. Verify that you have the following administrative credentials: Windows Administrators group on the front-end web server that is running SharePoint Server 2013 to complete this procedure. You must also be a member of the Farm Administrators group on the SharePoint Server farm on which you are installing Duet Enterprise 2.0.

  2. On the SharePoint Central Administration website, click Application Management.

  3. On the Application Management page, click Manage service applications.

  4. On the Manage Service Applications page, scroll down the list of service applications, and then select Secure Store service application.

  5. On the Secure Store Service Application page, click Generate New Key. The Generate New Key window opens.

  6. Type a pass phrase in the Pass Phrase and Confirm Pass Phrase boxes, and then click OK. Record this pass phrase.

  7. A new master key is created.
