Summary: Learn how to perform post-installation startup configuration for an Audit and Control Management server.

After you have set up the ACM Web Server and ACM Application Server, you must do the following configuration tasks in order:

All application processing takes place in the Processing folder.

To configure the Processing folder

  1. Create a folder. You can name it anything you wish. For example, you can call it itProcessing. This folder does not need to be located on the ACM application server.

  2. Right-click the newly created folder and point to Share with and then click Specific people. Add the Application Service account and give it Full Control permissions to the folder.

  3. Make a note of the UNC path of the Processing folder as you will need it later.

NoteNote:
The Processing folder is accessed by the ACM Application Server, but can be located on any file server as long as it can be accessed by the ACM system
NoteNote:
The processing folder UNC path can only be used by one site. If you want to created additional sites in the ACM application, additional processing folders must be created.

The Versions folder is where all archived file versions are stored. You may create more than one share folder to be used for the Versions storage folder.

To configure a versions folder:

  1. Create a folder. You can name it anything you wish. For example, you can call it itVersions. This folder does not have to be located on either the ACM application server or the ACM web server.

  2. Right-click on the Processing folder and point to Share with and then click Specific people. Add the Application Service account and give it Full Control permissions to the folder. Ensure that all other accounts are removed from the permissions structure for this shared folder.

  3. Make a note of the UNC path of the Versions folder as you will need it later.

NoteNote:
The Versions folder is accessed by the ACM Application Server and ACM web Server but can be located on any file server as long as it can be accessed by the ACM system. Be sure to consider disk capacity when you are determining the appropriate location of this folder.

  1. Use Internet Explorer to browse to your ACM web site, which is typically "http://<webserver/ACM>". where <webServer/ACM> is the server and web site of your ACM web environment. For example: http://myserver/ACM.

  2. To use ACM, you must first create a Site. Type a name for your site, and then click OK. If you want to add an additional site, select Settings, and then click Add a New Site.

    NoteNote:
Each site requires a set of file processor services to be configured on the server. When you create a site, you are given site administrator permissions. To give Site Administrator permissions to others, click Settings and then Site Settings.
  3. After creating your site, click Settings and then click Site Settings.

  4. Under Site Administration, click Processing folder. Enter the UNC path of the Processing folder that you created earlier. Click OK.

  5. Under Site Administration, click File Processor Aliases.

    NoteNote:
Each application service only performs tasks for the server that it is assigned to, and tasks are assigned to servers on the Network Shares and SharePoint Sites tabs within the system administration.
  6. Click Submit to save your changes.
