Troubleshooting Windows Intune Updates

Updated: December 17, 2012

Applies To: Windows Intune

Occasionally, you might not find an update that you expected to see in the Windows Intune administrator console. This topic lists several possible causes and suggestions for where you can find the updates.

You can use the Windows Intune administrator console or the Microsoft Updates web site to determine why an expected update does not appear in the Windows Intune administrator console. The following list shows where to look to determine why the update is missing:

  • Check whether the update is in the Microsoft Update Catalog. You can search for the update by Microsoft Knowledge Base article number or by update name.

If the update is not in the catalog list, it does not appear in the Windows Intune administrator console. Windows Intune only distributes updates that are in Microsoft Update. To determine when a new update will be available, see Microsoft Update Product Team Blog.

  • To check whether the update’s product category and update classification are selected, click the Administration icon in the Windows Intune administrator console workspace shortcuts pane, and then click Updates. Review the selections in the Product Category and Update Classification sections of the Service Settings: Updates page.

If the update’s product category and update classifications are not selected, select them. It should take about two hours for the update to appear in the Windows Intune administrator console. For more information about how to select product categories and update classifications, see Selecting Product Categories and Classifications to be Updated in Windows Intune.

  • Check whether the update was previously declined. For information about how to view a declined update, see Approving a Declined Update in Windows Intune.

Drivers and driver updates are not supported by Windows Intune.
