Windows Intune Client Software Deployment Alerts

Updated: November 1, 2013

Applies To: Windows Intune

Windows Intune is configured to display an alert if the client software fails during deployment on a client computer. The critical system alert Client Software Deployment Failure is enabled by default, and will display in the System Overview page and Alerts page in the Windows Intune administrator console.

You can have an email sent to selected recipients when a Client Software Deployment Failure alert occurs by configuring a Notification Rule on the Administration page in the Windows Intune administrator console. For more information, see Configure Windows Intune Alert Notification Rules.

If a client computer does not appear in the Windows Intune administrator console after two hours, and if the client software is not included in the list of installed software in Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features on the client computer, the client software installation probably failed. In this case, check for alerts by using the following procedure:

  1. Open the Windows Intune administrator console.

  2. In the workspace shortcuts pane, do one of the following:

    • Click the System Overview icon.

The Overview page appears. The Alerts Types area displays:

      • The top three alerts, which can be sorted by date, category, or severity

      • The total number of active alerts

      • Links to the Alerts Overview page

    • Click the Alerts icon, and then click Overview in the navigation pane, if it is not already selected.

The Alerts Overview page appears. The Alerts Type Summary area displays a summary of alerts of different types sorted by date and severity. Critical alerts are displayed first. Alert types appear as links.

    • Click the Alerts icon, and then click All Alerts in the navigation pane.

The Alerts page displays a list of all active alerts with following columns:

      • Name – The name of the alert type that generated the alert.

      • Source – A link to the source of the alert. If the display threshold of the alert type is set to All, then this link will display a single affected device. If the display threshold of the alert type is set to a value, then this link will display a list of all the devices that are affected by this alert.

      • Last Modified on – This indicates the time when the alert was last modified. If an alert is closed, the time when the alert was closed is displayed.

      • Severity – This indicates the severity of alert
