Closing a Windows Intune Alert

Updated: November 1, 2013

Applies To: Windows Intune

By default, an alert in the Windows Intune administrator console remains active unless either of the following events occurs:

  • The issue that caused the alert to be generated is resolved.

  • The alert is manually closed.

If neither of these scenarios occurs, the alert expires 45 days after it was raised and is automatically closed. It remains in the system as closed for 90 days, and is then permanently deleted.

  1. Open the Windows Intune administrator console.

  2. Locate the alert that you want to close by doing either of the following:

    • If you know the name of the alert, in the workspace shortcuts pane, click the Alerts icon, and in the navigation pane, click All Alerts or the name of an alert category. On the Alerts Overview page or the alert category page, in the Search alerts box, type the partial or full name of the alert.

    • If you know the name of the device that generated the alert, in the workspace shortcuts pane, click the Groups icon. On the Groups Overview page, in the Search devices box, type the partial or full device name. In the management list, click the name of the device, or click View Properties. On the Device Properties page, click Alerts.

  3. In the management list, do either of the following:

    • Close one or more alerts directly from the list. To do this, select the alert that you want to close, and then click Close Alert. To close more than one alert, select the first alert, press the CTRL key, and select another alert. Repeat this process as needed.

    • Open the Properties page for the alert. To do this, click the alert name. On the Properties page, click Close This Alert.

Notice Board alerts that appear on the System Overview page can be closed using the above procedure or directly on the System Overview page.

  1. Open the Windows Intune administrator console.

  2. In the workspace shortcuts pane, click the System Overview icon. Click the grey x next to the Notice Board alert.
