Windows Intune Technical Reference for Alerts and Monitoring

Updated: December 17, 2012

Applies To: Windows Intune December 2012 Release

Alerts in Windows Intune help you identify potential or current problems and take action accordingly, to prevent or minimize negative effects on business operations. For more information, see Working with Windows Intune Alerts and Monitoring.

The following tables list all the default alerts in Windows Intune, grouped by categories.

noteNote
Alerts in the category of Notices are various real-time informational alerts from Windows Intune concerning such announcements as client software changes, account migration status, and other changes to Windows Intune that the administrator needs to be aware of. By default they are all enabled and not configurable by the administrator.

Endpoint Protection

Endpoint protection alerts are raised when computers have protection warnings or are not protected, or have malicious software (also known as malware) that requires follow-up action. Alerts also notify you when malware was seen for the first time or was recently resolved.

Name Default Severity Default State Configurable Description

Investigate Recently Resolved Malware

Warning

Check whether additional follow-up actions are needed for computers that have recently resolved malicious software and complete any needed actions.

Investigate Endpoint Protection Warnings

Check whether the Endpoint Protection engine is unavailable or Endpoint Protection is disabled on computers that are not protected and resolve these issues if needed.

Investigate New Malware

Warning

Consider isolating any computer on which malicious software is detected from the network, and read the relevant Microsoft Malware Protection Center topic to learn more about the malicious software.

Monitoring

Monitoring alerts inform you when a service is stopped, disk space is too low, or disk fragmentation is high.

noteNote
All monitoring alerts can be configured to report according to specified display thresholds that are unique to the particular alert. By default, the display threshold of all monitoring alerts is set to Display All. For more information, see Setting Windows Intune Alert Type Thresholds.
