Remote Tasks Error Codes in Windows Intune

The following table lists common errors that may occur when you run a remote task from the Windows Intune administrator console, likely causes, and possible solutions to help you troubleshoot them.

 

Error Code Possible Problem Suggested Resolution

0x8004100c

Windows Intune Endpoint Protection is not installed or you are not using Windows Intune Endpoint Protection for endpoint protection.

  • Confirm that you are using Windows Intune Endpoint Protection for endpoint protection.

  • Confirm that Windows Intune Endpoint Protection is installed on the computer.

  • Confirm that Windows Intune Endpoint Protection is not disabled by policy

0x800700B7

A Windows Intune Endpoint Protection remote task is already running on the client computer.

Retry the remote task after the first one is completed.

0x80041032

The task was canceled on the client computer by a local administrator.

Instruct the local administrator of the client computer to avoid canceling the task, and then run the task again.

0x80CFA007

A pending restart computer task is already running on the client computer.

Wait for the pending restart computer task to be completed.

0xA1CE0065

A duplicate remote task is already queued or running on the client computer.

Wait for the first remote task to be completed before running another task on the client computer.

0xA1CE0068

The Remote Task Execution Engine could not be initialized.

Remove any older versions of the Windows Intune client software from the computer, and then retry the client software installation. For instructions, see Retiring a Device by Using the Windows Intune Administrator Console.

0xA1CE0069

The remote task was not completed, likely because the client computer was shut down while the task was running.

Rerun the remote task.

0xA1CE0064

The instruction to run the remote task was downloaded more than once, likely due to a lag in communication.

Rerun the remote task.

0xA1CE0066

The client computer received a task definition that is not valid.

Reinstall the Windows Intune client software.

0xA1CE0067

The maximum amount of tasks allowed in the task queue has been reached.

Wait until some tasks complete before running additional tasks.

0xA1CE006A

Windows Intune automatically failed the task because it was either queued or running for 25 days.

Make sure the client computer is connected to the internet and rerun the task.

0x80CF401C

The task encountered an error while attempting to retrieve information from the Windows Intune service.

Make sure the client computer is connected to the internet and rerun the task.

0x80041013

A Windows Intune component necessary to run the task is not installed properly.

  • Confirm that you are using Windows Intune Endpoint Protection for anti-malware protection.

  • Confirm that Windows Intune Endpoint Protection is installed on the computer.

  • Confirm that Windows Intune Endpoint Protection is not disabled by policy.

0xA1CE0102

Mobile device not found. You will receive this message when the Windows Intune administrator console has not been refreshed and a remote task has been issued for a device that has been removed.

Refresh the Windows Intune administrator console.

0xA1CE0103

Remote wipe task was initiated on a device that no longer exists in Exchange. This can occur if a device has been retired using a tool other than the Windows Intune administrator console or the Windows Intune company portal.

Confirm the device no longer exists in Exchange and then retire the device from the Windows Intune administrator console.

0xA1CE0104

Unknown Exchange error.

Check the status of the Windows Intune Exchange Connector. For more information about troubleshooting the Exchange Connector, see Monitoring the Status of the Windows Intune Exchange Connector.

0xA1CE0105

The remote task was not completed

Rerun the remote task.

0xA1CE0106

A pending remote wipe command is pending on the device and the Retire remote task issued from the Windows Intune administrator console or company portal will not be run.

0xA1CE0107

Undefined error

Rerun the remote task.

0x800704d5

An error occurred when the Refresh Policy remote task was initiated because policy was being processed.

Wait for five minutes, and then retry the Refresh Policy remote task.

0x8004100e

A policy task, for example Refreshing policy or Refreshing inventory, was run before a client installation or update has completed.

Wait for five minutes, and then retry the remote task.

80070652

A Windows Intune installation is already running on the client, which can prevent malware definition updates and other remote tasks.

Ensure that the installation in progress on the client is complete, and then retry the remote task.

A resource required for this operation is disabled

Ensure the Endpoint Protection is not disabled.
