Create a Windows Intune License Report

By using license reports in Windows Intune, you can compare volume-licensed software titles or product families that are running on computers in your organization with your current license agreement coverage according to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). There are two types of licensing reports in Windows Intune:

  • License Purchase Reports – License Purchase Reports display the software titles for all licensed software in selected license groups, based on their licensing agreements.

  • License Installation Reports – License Installation Reports compare installed software on computers in your organization with your current license agreement coverage.

When you run a License Purchase Report or License Installation Report, you can click Introduction in the Table of Contents of the report to display detailed information about that report.

Create and View License Purchase Reports

The following procedure describes how to create and view License Purchase Reports.

To create and view a License Purchase Report

  1. Open the Reports workspace, and in the navigation pane, click License Purchase Reports. The License Purchase Reports page opens.

  2. In the Select license type list, select one of the following:

    • All agreements displays all licensed software products that are managed by Windows Intune.

    • Volume Licensing agreements displays only VLSC software products.

    • Other software licensing agreements displays software products that are managed outside VLSC.

  3. In the Select license group list, select the license group to include in the License Purchase Report, or select All Agreements or Unassigned Agreements.

  4. Click View Report. The License Purchase Report opens in a new window.

Create and View License Installation Reports

The following procedure describes how to create and view License Installation Reports.

To create and view a License Installation Report

  1. Open the Reports workspace, and in the navigation pane, click License Installation Reports. The License Installation Reports page opens.

  2. In the Select license type list, select one of the following:

    • All agreements displays all licensed software products that are managed by Windows Intune.

    • Volume licensing agreements displays only VLSC software products.

    • Other software licensing agreements displays software products that are managed outside VLSC.

  3. In the Select license group list, select the license group to include in the License Purchase Report, or select All Agreements or Unassigned Agreements.

  4. In the Select device groups list, select All Devices, or click Edit, and then select the check boxes that correspond to each device group to include in the License Installation Report.

    Only computers appear in the report.

  5. Click View Report. The License Installation Report opens in a new window.

    Only software from the Software Asset Catalog appears in the report.

    To sort the data that you want to view in the report, click the column headings, and then print or export the report. For information about working with reports in Windows Intune, see Working with Windows Intune Reports.
