Lync-to-Lync Audio, Video, and Media

Lync Online users can make one-to-one computer-based audio and video calls to other Lync users using a PC and a web camera. A Lync Online user can initiate Lync-to-Lync audio and video calls with another user in the same Lync Online organization (within or outside the corporate firewall), or with another Lync user in a Lync federated domain as long as the two Lync domains are correctly configured, supported, and permitted for federation.

High-definition video (1920 x 1080) is supported for peer-to-peer calls between users running Lync on high-end computers.

Important:
The resolution viewed by each participant in a single conversation may differ, depending on the video capabilities of each user’s respective hardware.

Lync Online provides PC-to-PC file transfer that lets users transfer files as part of a Lync session.

Important:
The content-sharing feature is available for the Windows operating systems that are supported by Lync Online. File transfer is not supported across Lync federation. Content sharing is subject to the network policies that the customer applies to its corporate, VPN, and wireless networks.

Lync Online provides PC-to-PC data sharing capabilities including desktop sharing and application sharing.
