Customer Team Roles

The key roles that your organization is asked to provide in a dedicated deployment project are described in the following table.

Title

Responsibilities

Project Sponsor

Serves as the executive level proponent of your deployment project.

Ensures that all parties involved from your organization are committed to the project.

Serves as the final executive point of contact for any escalations that may occur during the project.

Project Manager

Manages the deployment project and deployment team for your organization.

Collaborates with the Microsoft Project Manager to develop and maintain a detailed project plan, tracks and resolves project issues and risks, and maintains communication between your workstream leads and the Microsoft project team.

Support Project Manager

Manages all aspects of Service Desk onboarding and coordination for your organization.

Serves as the primary contact for validation that your Service Desk is Service Ready.

Incident Management Process /Service Desk Owner

Participates in all Service Desk onboarding activities in order to understand Office 365 support incident management processes.

Updates your organization's incident management processes to align with Office 365 support processes.

Change Management Process Owner

Serves as a member of the Microsoft Change Advisory Board.

Participates in the change management session to understand Office 365 change management processes.

Updates customer change management processes to align with Office 365 processes.

Active Directory Architect / Administrator

Manages the Active Directory design and architecture and Active Directory processes.

Provides Microsoft with technical information about your Active Directory environment.

Messaging Architect / Administrator

Provides technical information about your messaging environment. This would include message architecture, hygiene/filtering architecture, and mail routing.

Works with security and mobile messaging (BlackBerry® and Exchange Active Sync).

Lync Online Architect / Administrator

Provides technical information about your communications environment including IM services, desktop sharing services, and digital meeting services.

Network Engineer

Provides technical information about your network environment including network architecture and processes for connecting to the Microsoft environment for Office 365 services.

SharePoint Architect/Collaboration Engineer

Provides technical information about the SharePoint Online discovery questionnaires.
