Max Function (Reporting Services)

Returns the maximum value of all non-null values of the specified expression.

Syntax

Max(Expression, Scope)

Parameters

  • Expression
    An expression that evaluates to numeric data on which to perform the aggregation. The expression cannot contain aggregate functions.
  • Scope
    (String) The name of a dataset, grouping, or data region that contains the report items to which to apply the aggregate function. If Scope is specified, the aggregate function applies to all data in the dataset, grouping, or data region. Return Type

Determined by the type of expression.

Remarks

The set of data specified in the expression must have the same data type. To convert data that has multiple numeric data types to the same data type, use conversion functions like CInt, CDbl or CDec. For more information, see Type Conversion Functions.

Scope cannot be an expression.

Example

The following code example provides the highest total in the Year grouping or data region.

Max(Fields!OrderTotal.Value, "Year")
