Installing the .NET Framework Documentation

The Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 is available as a free download at this SDK download Web site for these products. The Windows SDK includes the tools, code samples, and documentation that a developer needs to develop applications and business solutions that use the common language runtime (CLR). For SQL Server users and application developers, CLR integration means that you can now write stored procedures, triggers, user-defined types, user-defined functions (scalar and table-valued), and user-defined aggregate functions by using any .NET Framework language, including Visual Basic and Visual C#.

Integration with Microsoft SQL Server Books Online

When you install the Windows SDK, you can choose to install the entire SDK or just the .NET Framework documentation. After installation, you can add the .NET Framework documentation to SQL Server Books Online and SQL Server Management Studio, which will enable direct links from SQL Server Books Online to the SDK documentation, and add the SDK documentation to search results.
