How to: Add or Delete a Measure

You work with measures in a cube by using the Cube Structure view in Cube Designer, which you can access from Business Intelligence Development Studio.

To add a measure to a cube

  1. In Solution Explorer, right-click the cube, and then click View Designer.

  2. In Cube Designer, click the Cube Structure tab.

  3. Either click the New Measure button, or right-click anywhere in the Measures pane and then click New Measure.

  4. If there are no measure groups in the cube already, create one by clicking the new measure group icon. Under a Measure Group, click the measure group to which you want to add the measure.

  5. In New Measure, under Source Column, click the column that you want to add as a measure, and then click OK.

To remove a measure from a cube

  1. In Solution Explorer, right-click the cube, and then click View Designer.

  2. In Cube Designer, click the Cube Structure tab.

  3. In the Measures pane, click the measure that you want to remove.

  4. Either click the Delete button, or right-click the measure and then click Delete.

  5. In the Delete Objects dialog box, review the object to be deleted, and then click OK.
