What is a Site Connection?

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

Commerce Server uses a site connection to connect to the Web services. The Commerce Server Business Management applications use the Web services to communicate with the Commerce Server systems.

You can use one or more computers to host the Web services. To connect to the Web services, you use the Site Connections dialog box by entering the path of the Web service(s) in the fields provided. You name the site connection setting for the Web services connection. By naming the site connection, you do not have to enter the path of each Web service again. You just select the name of the site connection from the drop-down list.

If you have to create a site connection through a firewall, you can do so by using the HTTP Proxy tab in the Site Connections dialog box.
