In Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003, each mailbox usually has an associated calendar folder. However, when you first create a mailbox, it does not have an associated calendar folder. The calendar folder is created in one of the following ways:

  • Microsoft Outlook® creates a calendar folder the first time it accesses a mailbox.
  • Exchange Server 2003 creates a calendar folder the first time it delivers a message to a mailbox.

You can view your calendar using Outlook, Outlook Web Access, applications that use Collaboration Data Objects (CDO), or any combination of the three. Exchange Server 2003 can also store appointments in public folders; typically this is done for team or project schedules.
