The bootable USB flash drive is used to start your computer so that you can continue the recovery process.

Bootable USB flash drive for your server

The USB flash drive that you use must be 8 GB or larger. After you select the USB flash drive that you want to use, the wizard verifies that it is large enough to use for recovering your server.

After the wizard finishes preparing the USB flash drive, insert it into the server, and then start the server in recovery mode. To learn how to start your server in recovery mode, refer to the documentation from the manufacturer of your server hardware.

The bootable USB flash drive for the server will contain the factory image which is used if you select the option to reset the server to the factory default settings.

Bootable USB flash drive for a client computer

The USB flash drive that you use must be 512 MB or larger. After you select the USB flash drive that you want to use, the wizard verifies that it is large enough to use for recovering the client computer.

After the wizard finishes preparing the USB flash drive, insert it into the client computer that you want to recover, and then start the computer from the USB flash drive.
